Fastmail First Contract: Report #1
On Monday, March 18, 2024, the CWA Local 13000 reported:
Today marked the opening day of bargaining between the Union and the Company for our newly organized membership at Fastmail. Initially, talks today were centered on the formality of ironing out and establishing the parameters and ground rules surrounding the bargaining process itself and the expectations of both parties as we navigate this process. The Union then submitted our first formal proposal. The proposal itself contained 6 various non-economic Articles aimed at setting the groundwork for the beginnings of a fair first contract for our membership. Productive discussions were held on each facet of the Union's proposal which ranged from Recognition, Union Security, Union Representation, No Strike-No Lockout all the way through to Discipline and Discharge. Discussions were also held on the R.F.I. (Request for Information) that the Union submitted to the Company last week in connection with bargaining. The Company has committed to providing the requested information. The next scheduled bargaining date with the Company is April 4, 2024. In the meantime, members are urged to complete and submit their bargaining surveys if they have not done so already. Those completed bargaining surveys will be used to set your Union Bargaining Team's agenda going forward. Updates on bargaining will continue to be relayed to the membership as they occur in real time. Members are urged to stay in contact with bargaining team members and advise them of any issues occurring in the workplace as we proceed through this bargaining process.
In Unity,
Your CWA Local 13000 Fastmail Bargaining Team
